Would poor ‘mega’ planning diminish returns?

It is imperative to have a perfect release planning with so many heroes from a family to avoid any sort of clash that could hamper the box office prospects. Alas, ‘Mega’ family hardly known to have a proper planning is going to see a one of a kind of clash in recent times.

Three films from Mega family starring Sai Dharam Tej, Varun Tej and Ram Charan are going to release back to back within a month’s gap. They are Subramanyam For Sale, Kanche and Ram Charan’s film with Srinu Vytla. There is also a Rudrama Devi with Allu Arjun in supporting role. They all come with good budgets and need to collect minimally to be safe ventures. With these many films surely a film or two is bound to be affected.

Varun Tej’s Kanche on paper clearly looks to be the most vulnerable commercially but it is a film that starts on shaky ground due to the subject. It’s the other two commercial films which are in danger of viewer fatigue as they both belong to the typical commercial entertainer quota made by directors with a formula of their own.

In the past proper gaps were maintained which helped the revenues of the Mega films as one film covered up for the loss of other, in case of a failure or vice versa one film improved collection of other with its commercial success. But here the case appears to be in reverse as public is likely to feel overdose even though they might or might not watch all these films. Therefore the possibility of diminishing returns increases. Would that be the case in the month ahead?
