Ramayana: Tandavam Introduces Ravana’s Fierce Side

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The film is being promoted through a series of promotional materials.

On the occasion of Dussehra, the makers unveiled a song featuring Yash performing the Ravana Tandavam, offering a preview of his portrayal of the legendary king of Lanka.

AR Rahman composed the song, with lyrics by Rakendu Mouli and vocals by Devi Sri Prasad. The sequence draws inspiration from Ravana’s devotion to Lord Shiva. In Hindu tradition, Tandavam represents Shiva’s cosmic dance, associated with creation, preservation and destruction. Ravana’s connection with the deity, particularly through the Shiva Tandav Stotram, adds a mythological dimension to the presentation.

For Yash, the role brings him into a character whose presence has endured across generations of storytelling. The actor’s screen persona complements Ravana’s imposing stature, while the new song presents the character through a musical sequence.
