I found a Telugu name Veerayya in the book related to South Africa. I came across the name in a temple and somehow wanted to make a film with that name,” he said.
“Later a fan sent me a video in which Chiranjeevi garu says someone by name Veerayya helped him before coming to the industry. So, I thought it would make a perfect title,” he added.
The director also assured Waltair Veerayya is more than fan stuff. “I initially wrote the story as a fan. But during the Lockdown I realized that people are exposed to World Cinema. Even an autowallah is watching so much content on OTT. Then I reworked the story and developed it. Ravi Teja’s character is added on similar lines. It will be a perfect festival entertainer” he told.
