14-year-old receives 5 lakh cheque from CM!

In a generation of social media obsessed youngsters, it is not very surprising when some of the incidents on the internet turn out to be a boon for someone. For 14 year old Harendra Singh Chauhan, the social networking site Facebook turned out to be a blessing in disguise when a picture of him doing his homework on the footpath went viral.

The teen usually spends his evenings this way, outside the metro station at Noida City Centre making a living and with his weighing scale and his notebooks around.

When this touching image of Harendra went viral, Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav was also moved by it and offered him a cheque worth five lakh. While the child accepted the money, he has since declined any other gifts such as a bicycle sent by a Noida district magistrate. However, the Noida administration still has to keep an eye on him and his academic career now onwards.
