2004 Redux Comes Back for TDP

Telugu Desam Party has bagged a shocking defeat in the elections and it can be easily termed as TDP’s worst performance ever. The party leaders and cadre are shellshocked with the results. More than the defeat, they could not understand how they deserve such a disaster performance despite good administration in the last five years.

Amaravati Propaganda is one of the reasons for TDP’s defeat in this election. YSR Congress successfully took it to the people that the entire development is centralized in Amaravati and only one caste has got benefitted from it. Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra voted against TDP due to this Propaganda.

If the allegations are true, TDP should sweep the Krishna and Guntur districts which are not the case here. A similar thing has happened in 2004 in the United State. Back then Congress under YSR’s leadership was successful in the propaganda that the entire development is centralized in Hyderabad.

Back then, the propaganda worked everywhere in the state and TDP fared poorly even in Hyderabad which the Opposition claimed as the actual beneficiary in Naidu’s Rule. Probably, TDP has failed to convince the people that Amaravati is everybody’s capital.
