2018 – An Year of Important Decisions for Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP Supremo Chandrababu Naidu is taking some crucial decisions ahead of the 2019 Elections. There is a huge anti-sentiment brewing against the BJP led Central government in Andhra Pradesh which has led Chandrababu to rethink about the alliance. It is not easy to severe ties with a party which is most likely to come to power at the center the next time also.

Naidu earlier this week also hinted about a possible alliance with TRS in Telangana. He mentioned how BJP severed ties with TDP (TS) without even intimating and how Congress is untouchable for the party. That leaves only TRS to ally with. An Alliance with TRS will have its share of consequences and there might be implications in Andhra Politics as well.

TRS is seen as an Anti-Andhra Party and the other parties will use the propaganda to deter TDP chances there and so the decision is going to be extremely tough especially because both Andhra and Telangana will go to elections at a time. Besides these political issues, there are some administrative problems as well. Naidu has to finish some projects and commitments before going for the elections.

Some of those will need the approvals and financial assistance from the Central government. So, the decision of pulling out of NDA is not as easy as it appears to be. But then, having said that all, Chandrababu is one of the best political minds Indian politics has ever seen. We will see how he tackles all these problems in the next few months. 2018 is going to be very interesting
