35 Killed as Hirakund Express derailed in Andhra Pradesh

Yet another rail accident has occurred while the country is dreaming about getting its first ever bullet train. Hirakund Express coming from Jagadhalpur to Bhuvaneshwar got derailed at 11.10 PM near Kuneru Railway Station, Vizianagaram district, Andhra Pradesh. 9 bogies have got derailed in this accident.

About 35 are feared dead while another 100 are said to be injured. Ministers belonging Uttarandhra are supervising the relief operations. Officials are busy removing the bogies and are shifting the dead and injured to the hospital. Remaining Passengers are being sent to their natives in RTC buses.

A Majority of those who lost their lives are from Odisha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed their shock at this accident. The Chief Minister is directly monitoring the relief measures. He also spoke to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and is coordinating the relief measures.
