5.82 Lakh farmers not eligible for Loan Waiver!

According to the latest data available with Andhra Pradesh government, there are at least 5.82 Lakhs of farmers who are ineligible for the loan waiver scheme. It is said that these account holders did not submit any information to the bankers about their eligibility for the loan waiver. Hence these loans are rejected in the first phase itself. In the total of 80 Lakh loan accounts, 49.37 Lakh Loan Accounts are perfectly correct for the loan waiver. 5,82,703 are found ineligible.

While in the remaining 15 Lakh accounts, the farmers did not submit either the Aadhar card or the Ration Card which are mandatory. The beneficiaries amont these 15 Lakh will be decided by the door to door survey by Janma Bhoomi committees. If the Janma Bhoomi committee deems a farmer as eligible, then it has to be ratified by the local Tahsildar. These corrections will be made in 4-5 days after the release of the beneficiaries list.

Once the final list is prepared, government will remove any duplicate account holders wherein they take loans in two places on the same land. Loan Waiver to farmers and women self help groups is one of the flagship schemes of Telugu Desam Party in the last elections. After coming to power, there is tremendous pressure on Chandra Babu to deliver it even though the state is reeling under the pressure of bifurcation.
