Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was arrested by the CBI while already in Tihar jail for a money laundering probe related to the Delhi excise policy case. The ED had previously arrested her in Hyderabad on March 15.
It has now been 63 days, and there is still no clarity on when Kavitha will get bail.
Yesterday, the Delhi High Court issued a notice to the CBI regarding the bail plea filed by BRS MLC K Kavitha in connection with the liquor policy scam. The court also requested a response from the CBI on Kavitha’s plea challenging her arrest and the trial court’s decision to remand her to CBI custody.
Kavitha has filed two separate petitions. One is an appeal against the trial court’s order denying her bail, and the other is a writ petition challenging both her arrest and the remand order. In the writ petition, she has also sought to quash the trial court’s order that allowed the CBI to question her while she was in judicial custody after her arrest by the ED.
Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who is also accused in the same case, is out on interim bail until June 2 to participate in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections campaign.
