7500 Crore for Capital Electrification

CRDA is drawing plans for 24X7 power supply for the upcoming Capital Region of Andhra Pradesh. In order to make sure that the power supply is not interrupted even during natural calamities, underground electricity supply is being planned. CRDA is estimating that the electrification project will cost 7500 Crore.

The state government is keen on completing the project by 2019-2020 as the Chief Minister feels non-stop power supply is a testament for his good administration and World Class Capital. The state government is likely to pool in 2500 Crore from its own exchequer and the remaining from loans.

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) already came up with a proposal of 6000 Crore for the electrification of Amaravati. A team will fly to Delhi regarding this and will sit with REC over this loan. The government is also planning to allot 800MW generated by a plant of Vijayawada Thermal Power Project for the capital power needs.
