8 Yrs For Amaravati: World Class To No Capital

On October 22, 2015, the foundation stone was laid for Amaravati, a world class city that was envisioned and spurred to life by the then chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. The prime minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the city that showed so much promise.

But cut to now, Amaravati has gone from a potentially world class city to falling in a woeful political trap set by Jagan’s YCP.

Amaravati was once a bustling prospective capital that had 8000-10,000 acres land bank in the name of the state government. There was no shortage for acreage for the government to develop. When Amaravati bonds were issued in Bombay Stock Exchange, they were traded for Rs 2000 crores on the first one hour itself, such was the trust in visionary CBN.

The then government allotted lands for 145 companies with an intention to orchestrate infra development in the area in partnership with private firms. Close to 20,000 were employed in these facilities.

But everything changed after the YCP government came to power as the first thing that Jagan did was not lay a foundation or sign a development agreement, but demolish the Prajavedika building. He came with his mad rush to set up three capitals.

The government offices were moved from Amaravati with the High Court shifted to Kurnool and executive capital shifted to Vizag. Almost every tender for infra development projects was called back and the agreements with companies were canceled out.

Thousands of farmers who gave their lands to Amaravati are now battling against the YCP government and this looks like a losing war as long as Jagan is in power. What is the funniest thing is that YS Jagan, in the last four and a half years, has not once come in front of the media to address his vision of three capitals for the state, nor has he built a single building or even a small wall.
