9 Wickets Down; “Greater” Trouble For BRS

The brigade of BRS is falling like a pack of cards in Telangana. MLAs, MPs, MLCs and even local leaders are defecting to the Congress Party over the last few weeks.

The latest one to join the list is Serilingampally MLA, Arikepudi Gandhi. He joined the Congress party in the presence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today.

Along with him, Serilingampally corporator Nagender, Miyapur corporator Srikanth, Chandanagar corporator Raghunadh and Hydernagar corporator Srinivas have also joined Congress.

Gandhi is the ninth BRS MLA to join Congress. With his shift, BRS’s strength in assembly has now reduced to 29 whereas Congress’s strength has risen to 75.

More MLAs from the GHMC region are expected to switch to the Congress Party in the coming days, making BRS weak in the region.

Just six months ago, GHMC was one of the fortresses of BRS where it won almost all seats. But now, it is losing steam as many Greater Hyderabad region MLAs are shifting to the Congress Party.

While the party is losing its roots in the city, BRS chief KCR and working president KTR remain calm. While KTR says that his party would fight it out in Delhi, KCR is staying silent at his farmhouse.

If this is the case, BRS may lose all its base in the GHMC region in the next few months and may struggle further in the future.
