Aadhar link up is not mandatory – Supreme

In the wake of rumours all over that votes not linked up to Aadhar card will be deleted, Supreme court today had clarified on this. The apex court had given a ruling that Aadhar link up to any program can not be made mandatory.

The centre also clarified to the court that it will not make Aadhar link up mandatory but will use it only for LPG, Kerosene and Food grain distribution. The apex court had asked the central government to publicize through print and electronic media that Aadhar linkup is not mandatory.

The apex court also reacted on the data theft complaints on Aadhar. The court instructed the government and competent authorities to make sure that no personal information of Aadhar card holders shall be shared by the authorities concerned.
