‘Aasara’ gives tough time to genuine beneficiaries

‘Aasara’ – the new pension scheme rolled out by Telangana government may have increased the quantum of the pension but is proving to be a very disappointing scheme to many beneficiaries. While increasing the pension quantum, the government has set some very stringent rules to decrease the number of beneficiaries.

Government is asking to submit death certificates of husbands to widow pensions. In many cases the deaths occurred more than a decade ago and it is now almost impossible to get the certificate. Some of the widows and old aged people are denied pensions because their sons are employed. But sadly they have been abandoned a long while ago and are living on their own.

Some of the beneficiaries removed recently by the government are receiving the pensions for more than 10-15 years and are doing rounds around the government offices if they stand a chance to get their names back on list.
