After ADB, World Bank Approves Loan For Amaravati

Things are falling into place for the Amaravati Capital City works as funds are being sanctioned from all sides. Already, the Asian Development Bank has approved $788 million for Amaravati.

According to the latest reports, the World Bank has also approved $800 million for Amaravati. Reportedly, World Bank representatives gave approval to release the funds during their meeting on Thursday.

During the budget sessions earlier this year, the union government announced that it would fund $1,588 million from both banks to construct Amaravati. As promised, the funds have been released within a few months.

Though Amaravati construction works started in 2015, they were left in ruins from 2019-2024 due to the negligent governance of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

After Chandrababu Naidu came back into power, he asserted that Amaravati would be the state capital and secured funds from the central government.

The funds will be used for the construction of the state assembly, secretariat, and residences for Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, AIS officers, and Gazetted and Non-Gazetted officers. Several road and reservoir works will also be undertaken during the initial phase of the capital city’s construction.
