After Anti-Modi Documentary, IT Raids On BBC

Just a few weeks ago, UK based media company, BBC broadcasted a documentary, linking PM Modi to the highly controversial 2002 Gujarat riots. This documentary sparked an uproar from the saffron party community.

Cut to now, Income Tax sleuths landed at BBC offices in Mumbai and Delhi. This comes just weeks after BBC aired the documentary on Modi.

The IT officials are reportedly investigating over allegations of international taxation and transfer pricing irregularities involving the BBC.

Over 20 IT officials were deployed at the BBC office in Delhi while another team started surveying at the office in Mumbai where the production happens.

The IT reportedly told that these are just surveys and they’re verifying the finance books of the broadcast company and not searches. The phones and laptops belonging to BBC representatives that are being seized now will be returned later.

Incidentally, India: The Modi Question, the documentary that was published by BBC was take down from the internet last week. Now, the BBC received a knock on the door from the IT department officials.
