Now as the winter set in, the farmers are breathing easy with supply getting slightly better. But now the new shock for the farmers is the Power Bills. Farmers have to pay service charges of 30 Rupees every month despite free power. But officials did not collect this amount since 2005.
But all of sudden, they are pressurizing to pay the old bills which now have gone in to several 1000s in the last 9 years. There are reports from several districts that the officials are taking away the starters and service wires disrupting the power services until the bills are paid. Farmers who have already suffered enough setbacks this season are now again shocked by this new ‘Shock’.
