Agriculture on a ventilator in Telangana!

Lives of farmers are turning out to be miserable in Telangana state. The newest state of the country is second in terms of farmers suicides. While the state government tries to coverup the suicide numbers and project the situation as all is well, the ground zero is extremely dangerous.

According to the report of Telangana Agriculture department, the cultivation of paddy in the state decreased by 44%. The government claims that they have managed to reduce power cuts but it is all due to the sacrifices made by the farmers by not resorting to paddy cultivation. The report also ringed alarm bells as the food grains production decreased by 32% in the state.

The situation for Kharif season this year is even worse. All the crops were reportedly cultivated less then the bare minimum cultivation levels prescribed by the government itself. Telangana government should immediately address the issue lest the farmers should suffer very badly.
