Center dashes one more hope of AP?

Railway Board Chairman, AK Mittal reportedly confirmed to AP Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao that Special Railway Zone to Andhra Pradesh is not possible technically. “Bhuvaneswar will be losing badly if special railway zone is given. It will not help AP either. Railway Zone for each state is not possible”, Mittal told IYR.

Mittal also added that the fate of the Special railway zone will now be totally dependent on the BJP’s Political decision. Last month they said the railway zone is being granted but the announcement did not happen due to the code of conduct of MLC elections in place.

Special Railway Zone with Vishakapatnam as Head Quarter is one of the prime poll promise of BJP to the truncated state. Moving away from the promise will trouble BJP very much. It is said that BJP is holding Special Zone decision after it is opposed by Odisha MPs. Their support in Rajya Sabha is necessary for the government to move certain crucial bills and so it yielded to Odisha’s pressure.
