Amaravathi Train Starts..

The Amaravati railway project, which had been stalled under the YSRCP regime, has received a significant boost with the recent allocation of ₹50.01 crore by the new alliance government, marking the first substantial financial commitment towards the project.

This allocation is seen as a crucial first step towards initiating the long-awaited railway line that aims to enhance connectivity to Amaravati, the planned capital city of Andhra Pradesh.

The allocation has sparked widespread optimism, especially among the residents of Guntur district and railway authorities, as it signifies a renewed focus on the development of the region. In addition to the funds for the Amaravati railway line, over ₹1,100 crore has been allocated for various projects under the Guntur Railway Division in the current financial year.

This is a notable increase compared to previous years, reflecting the central government’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development in the region. The Amaravati railway line was first introduced in the Pink Book—a document that outlines the railway budget allocations—around seven to eight years ago.

The project was initially sanctioned during the tenure of the TDP government (2014-2019) in collaboration with the NDA-1 government at the center. The railway line was envisioned as a key infrastructure development to support the growth and connectivity of Amaravati as the new capital.

The project involves constructing a 106 km long railway line, divided into three sections:

1. Errupalem – Nambur (55.8 km): This section is expected to connect the northern part of Amaravati, providing crucial access to the broader region.

2. Amaravati – Pedakurapadu (24.5 km): This section will directly link Amaravati to the surrounding areas, fostering economic growth and development.

3. Sattenapalli – Narasaraopet (25 km): This final section will complete the loop, ensuring comprehensive rail connectivity throughout the region.

The recent allocation of funds, particularly the ₹50.01 crore for the Amaravati railway line, has generated excitement and hope that the project will soon commence. It is seen as a critical development that could catalyze further investments and infrastructure improvements in Amaravati and the surrounding districts, ultimately contributing to the region’s long-term growth and prosperity.
