Amaravati Loans… Not AP’s Debt: Center

The Central government made it clear that the loans taken by AP government for development of Amaravati do not come under AP state’s debt.

The union finance ministry has extended complete support to the Andhra Pradesh government for the development of the capital.

It also made it clear that the loans taken from the World Bank and Asia Development Bank will not be considered debts. It further said it has decided not to take them as AP’s debts.

Union minister of state finance, Pankaj Choudhary has given this in a written statement to the YSRCP member who raised the issue in Lok Sabha.

It comes as a smart and sweet retort to the press meet held by YSRCP leader YS Jagan who said that while the AP government took loans from World Bank, Asia Development Bank and HUDCO, they did not reflect in the state budget. Jagan also said that while Rs 6000 crore were set aside for Amaravati, the government was calling it a self-sustaining city.

This should shut all mouths raising objections with regards to state budget.
