Amaravati ORR Cost Cut to ₹30,491 Crore, 17 Interchanges Planned

The proposed 189.93-km Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR) will have 17 interchanges along its six-lane, access-controlled corridor.

These interchanges will connect the ORR with national highways, state highways and district roads, making it easier for traffic to enter and exit the corridor.

Eight double-trumpet interchanges are planned where the ORR crosses national highways. Another eight rotary interchanges will connect it with state and district roads, while one single-trumpet interchange is planned near Medikonduru.

The number of interchanges has been reduced from the earlier 19 as part of efforts to bring down the project cost from ₹38,450 crore to ₹30,491 crore.

The cost-cutting plan also drops the proposed service roads on the outer side of the ORR.

The earlier proposal for a 17.5-km six-lane connecting road from near Tenali to Kaja on the Chennai-Kolkata Highway has also been set aside, along with two interchanges linked to that road.

17 ORR Interchanges

1. Kanchikacherla: Vijayawada-Hyderabad Highway

2. Ponnavaram: Kanchikacherla-Madhira State Highway

3. Duggiralapadu: NH-163G

4. Mylavaram: Vijayawada-Bhadrachalam-Raipur corridor

5. Adavinekkalam: Adavinekkalam-Velvadam Road

6. Agiripalli: Vijayawada-Nuzvid Road

7. Pottipadu: Chennai-Kolkata Highway

8. Gannavaram-Puttagunta Road

9. Manikonda: Vijayawada-Gudivada Road

10. Chalivendrapalem: Vijayawada-Machilipatnam Highway

11. Nandivelugu: Guntur-Hanumanpalem Road

12. Narakoduru: Narakoduru-Budampadu Spur Road

13. Ananthavarappadu: Ananthavarappadu-Mutluru Road

14. Pulladigunta: Guntur-Prathipadu-Parchuru Road

15. Pothuru-Lingayapalem: Chennai-Kolkata Highway

16. Medikonduru: Vinukonda-Guntur Highway

17. Balusupadu: Sattenapalli-Amaravati Road

The ORR is expected to create a high-speed connectivity ring around the Amaravati-Vijayawada-Guntur region, while providing links to several major highways and regional roads.

The reduction in interchanges and project cost is aimed at keeping the project more efficient while retaining its key connectivity benefits.

As Amaravati develops and economic activity expands across the region, the ORR could become an important part of its long-term transport network.
