American Consulate in Vijayawada!

All those US Visa Aspirants out there in Andhra Pradesh, you need not go to Hyderabad for your Visa Interviews or applications. Very soon Vijayawada is going to have one American Consulate. Puneet Talwar, the assistant secretary of state for political-military affairs met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday and assured him about opening a consulate in Vijayawada very soon.

It is expected that the upcoming Consulate office in Vijayawada processes applications only for non immigrant visas. Those are the visas for people visiting the United State temporarily for tourism, business, education, medical treatment, or petition-based employment.

The current US Consulate in Hyderabad also processes only non immigrant visas. It now provides consular services in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Orissa. A new consulate in Vijayawada will mean that it will be more accessible to Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Orissa.
