Capital Construction to begin only in 2017?

Andhra Pradesh government is in the process of finalizing the designs of the government complex planned in 900 acres of Amaravati. The government had rejected the designs of Maki Associates and is looking at Indianized designs. Seven Prominent Architects of various Indian companies are in the race.

Two of these designs will be selected. Maki Associates however will be retained due to its experience. Maki will be designing the detailed design plans of two Icon Buildings and remaining buildings will be designed by the selected Indian Companies. In case, the government wants Indian companies in all buildings, Maki Associates and the selected companies will work together.

The entire designs will have to be completed in 3-4 months while Iconic Building designs will take 2-3 months more time. Once the designs are finished, the government will then decide how much to be paid for them. This will mean that the capital construction will begin only next year.
