AP Nation’s First in Commercial Taxes Collection

Andhra Pradesh had earned a whopping 8250 Crore from commercial taxes, for the quarter ended in June, 2016 which is the highest increase in any state in the country. The truncated stated battling severe financial issues, reported a 23.63 per cent increase in tax revenue, mostly due to increased prices of cigarettes and liquor.

The state’s income from cigarettes and liquor continues to grow more than the national average, but the state is behind in revenue from petro products and major public sector undertakings. These sectors are likely to get better as many new industries are coming up in the state.

Vijayawada is ahead of other districts in the state with over Rs 999.96 crore revenue in just three months and is followed by Visakhapatnam with Rs 430.56 crore and Kurnool with Rs 247 crore. Most of the companies that have shifted their base from Hyderabad have reported steep growth in sales during the first quarter in the current fiscal.
