AP Cabinet Gives Nod To 3 New Districts

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved the creation of three new districts. The meeting was led by CM Chandrababu. As part of the reorganisation plan, Rampachodavaram, Markapuram, and Madanapalle will be formed as new districts.

With this, the total number of districts in Andhra Pradesh will rise to 28. The final gazette notification is expected on December 31. The Cabinet has cleared all related proposals.

Several boundary changes were approved. Rayachoti will shift from Annamayya district to Madanapalle. Rajampet will be moved to Kadapa. Railway Koduru will now fall under Tirupati. Gudur will shift from Tirupati to Nellore.

Five new revenue divisions have also been approved. The Cabinet believes these changes will improve administrative efficiency and local governance.

Later, CM Chandrababu stated that Rayachoti was earlier made a district headquarters due to pressure. He said Minister Ramprasad Reddy pushed for a district with Rayachoti as headquarters, but that option was not feasible.

He added that Rajampet residents preferred Kadapa, while Railway Koduru residents wanted Tirupati. Based on public demand, Rayachoti’s shift became unavoidable. He said the changes reflect the people’s voice.

The Cabinet also discussed the creation of two mandals in Adoni. Although three were considered, the final decision was for two. Separate revenue division and DSP control in a different area in Nellore was also discussed.

Chandrababu stated that several key changes were introduced in 2025. He urged the Cabinet to perform better in 2026 and highlighted the government’s administrative achievements from the previous year.
