AP Still Hopeful of INS Viraat?

Andhra Pradesh government is keen on having INS Viraat on its shores. AP Tourism department recently gave a Power Point Presentation of their plan to convert INS Viraat as a Tourist Spot. Union Tourism Ministry is set to be impressed and asked them to come up with a DPR.

Andhra Pradesh government had readied 500 acres in Bheemili to station INS Viraat. It is looking at Union Tourism Ministry’s Contribution to meet the expense of 1000 Crore that would be needed to convert it to a Museum and 5 Star Hotel.

The world’s oldest aircraft carrier, INS Viraat, in service with the Indian Navy was decommissioned at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai the last month. The legendary ship may head to the scrapyard if no buyer is found for the ship in the next three months or so. INS Viraat has spent 30 years in the Navy after 27 years in the Royal Navy.
