Andhra sees hike in air travellers

Andhra Pradesh, post partition, has seen an increase in the number of air passengers going out of the state. Apparently the hike is of about 52 percent while for the rest of the country it is only 18 percent.

These statistics were displayed after a report was released regarding the development of various departments in the first five months of the present financial year. According to the report, about 10,40,320 passengers travelled from the five airports in Andhra as compared to last year’s number which was 6,83,861. The airports include Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Rajahmundry, and Kadapa wherein Vijaywada’s increase was the highest, 101 percent.

There have been talks about the construction of five more airports at Kuppam, Nagarjunasagar, Orvakallu, Dagadarthi, and Donakonda with one international airport at Bhogapuram of district Vizianagaram.
