Union Minister Shivraj Chauhan told the House that the previous Jagan government in Andhra Pradesh did not give PM Fasal Bima to farmers in the state.

But the Center has taken steps towards ensuring that the Center’s share is credited to farmers’ accounts, Chauhan said. Though the Jagan government did not give fasal bima for three consecutive years, the government gave its share on time, the Union Minister said.

If the states don’t give their share on time, they will have to deposit 12% interest along with their share, Chauhan told the House.

PM Fasal Bima Yojana was started in 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Parliament sessions began with a discussion on Operation Sindoor on Monday.
