AP’s rectangular Capital to have ample public spaces

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu who scaled to power with the promise of World class capital for the state is working on the lines of making it possible. Usually 40% of the collected land is left for the usage of public spaces in capital cities but Chandrababu’s government is working out public spaces at 50% of the land. This 50% public amenities will include roads, affordable housing, utilities, parks, playgrounds and open spaces.

Government will very soon approve the A.P. Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) which will look into the proposed infrastructure, townships, transportation, public amenities and so on. The Authority can oversee any investment plans above Rs.100 crore, fast-track projects, revise development plans and every project below the level will be taken up by the existing local bodies.

Chandrababu had already announced the boundaries of the upcoming capital and the work for land pooling of 30000 acres have already began. The government has selected 17 villages in Guntur – Velagapudi, Uddandarayunipalem, Rayapudi, Dondapadu, Neerukonda, Borupalem, Nelapadu, Sakhamuru, Nidamarru, Malkapuram, Mudha Lingayapalem, Lingayapalem and Abbarajupalem villages for the first phase of land pooling exercise.
