Port-Based Industrial Cities Being Planned: AP

The Andhra Pradesh government plans port-based industrial cities at eight locations across the state. Industrial clusters will come up within 100 kilometres of ports. For residents, this means faster development, more jobs, and stronger regional economies linked directly to maritime trade.

Visakhapatnam will get marine and pharma clusters. Moolapet will host pharma, biotechnology and chemical hubs with CETPs. Rambilli will house a defence manufacturing zone, while Machilipatnam is planned for EVs, jewellery and auto parts.

Ramayapatnam will focus on oil storage and distribution. Krishnapatnam will develop electronics and clean energy clusters. Kakinada will get a petroleum and agri-export hub, and Dugarajapatnam will host a marine SEZ with a robotic shipyard.

The government wants Andhra Pradesh to emerge as a national logistics hub. APMB will prepare master plans that combine ports, industry, housing and commerce. Coordination with the Centre’s Sagarmala project and global firms like APM Terminals will support seamless cargo movement.
