AP tighten screws on Power thieves!

A recent study conducted by Andhra Pradesh Power officials revealed that the state is losing 900 Crore per annum dur to power pilferage. Accordingly the officials have identified mandals, municipalities and towns where this menace is at the maximum and are gearing up to crack them down.

Bommanahal mandal in Anantapur has 44.56% distribution losses, the highest in the state. Manchingput mandal in Visakhapatnam district (43.93%), Pedabayalu, Chintapalli and Dumbriguda mandals in Visakhapatnam recorded more than 30 per cent losses due to the high amount of power theft.

It is said that the power pilferage is more among the farming sector followed by households. Even some industrial units were also engaged in the pilferage of power. Power officials are preparing time-bound action plans to nab the criminals and prosecute them in courts.
