AP to use longest coastline to cut costs

Andhra Pradesh government is stressing on the need of developing water based transport for making use of the longest coastline of the state. As a first step to make proper use of it, the government is planning to transport all the construction materials of the capital via water only.

Most of the seed capital villages do not have proper roads. Using water transport in Krishna river will save time as well as distance. This mode of transport is also very cheap and will come at one-fifth of the road transport.

Besides the heavy machinery imported from other countries are also likely to reach Amaravati via Bay of Bengal. They will transported through Krishna River to Amaravati after reaching nearest ports. Government officials are chalking out a detailed plan of action for this.
