AP Transport Dept. coffers filling with fancy number bids

Craze for fancy numbers whether it’s mobiles or vehicles is something which looks like a bit foolish for others but for those who have the craze, paying some extra bucks isn’t a big thing though. One Sivaram from Poranki bid for the fancy number AP16 DA 9999 and got the number for 6.40 lakh, while the vehicle cost is Rs.54 lakh.

The highest bid for another fancy number until Sivaram’s bid had been 5.01 lakh for Rs.52 lakh Audi Sedan. While spending several lakhs for fancy numbers isn’t everyone’s take, there are many who are filling the Transport Department coffers coming up with bids ranging from Rs.2 lakh plus to Rs.30,000.

One can easily understand how the craze for such fancy numbers is fetching year by year and hence the revenues generated with this kind of bids is crossing more than a couple of crores. Even a few fancy number bids like Sivaram’s in lakhs and few more in thousands are enough for Transport Dept. to reach the expected Rs.2.5 crore mark.
