AP Woman Delivers Baby on the Path Using a Blade

A Tribal woman from Kintukuru village of Maredumilli Mandal had to deliver her baby all by herself on her way to the hospital using a blade. This incident shows the availability of healthcare facilities in the rural areas.

This woman with her husband had to walk about 10 KM from their place to the hospital. They were on their way to the facility by walk but the lady got her contractions and had to deliver the baby there and then. Reports say that mother and baby are fine now and have been admitted to the Rampachodavaram hospital.

Addressing this incident, Health officer said that tribal people are being taught the importance of healthy and hygiene delivery and have been suggesting them to be admitted to hospital way earlier by the doctors which the tribal men always neglect.

Rampachodavaram hospital staff reported that the woman and family were asked to stay more days at the hospital for the betterment of her and baby’s health, after which they left the hospital without any notice.
