Are We Gonna Say Goodbye to 2000 in 2017?

While people are in the belief that 2016 would take the demonetization struggle with it and that they can welcome 2017 with new 2000 and 500 notes, a terrifying news is going viral on the Internet saying that 2000 notes would be banned effective 2017.

The message says, 2000 rupees notes are going to be banned and 1000 rupees note would be introduced on January 2017. It says that people would be asked to return the pink notes to the bank as did for old 500 and 1000 notes. The rumor also mentioned the limit of deposition to be 50,000 rupees, only for 10 days and hence all should get rid of 2000 note at the earliest.

However, this message has been proved to be an absolute hoax. The 1000 rupee note shown in the message was proved to be fake. RBI clarified that there is no such idea of introducing new 1000 rupees notes as of now but any decision can be taken down the line according to people’s need and center too has denied the ban of 2000 note.
