Jaitley Is Lying on Special Status – Finance Commission

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley repeatedly saying that the 14th Finance Commission is not favor of giving Special Status to Andhra Pradesh or any other states except for those enjoying the privilege right now. Abhijit Sen, a member of the 14th Finance Commission responded on the issue that is shaking the truncated state.

He went on to say that it is up to the Center to give special status to Andhra. He clarified that “In the report nowhere it is recommended to stop special status to Andhra or any other states. It is completely a prerogative of the Central government”. 14th Finance Commission Chairman Y. Venugopal Reddy confirmed that the Commission did not make any such recommendation.

In fact, 14th Finance Commission in its report highlighted that Andhra Pradesh will be the only state in the country besides the Special Category States, which will remain deficit even after the term of the 14th Finance Commission is complete. So that means, Jaitley and Modi’s government are just using 14th Commission to evade giving Special Status to Andhra.
