Ban on cell phones in ‘T’ schools

Telangana government has decided to ban the use of mobile phones in educational institutions. Commissioner of school education, Telangana issued an order of banning the use of mobile phone both by the teachers and students in the class rooms.

This order was issued on December 31st 2014 and the district education officers and the regional joint director of school education were asked to implement it. The decision was taken in the wake of incidents of taking pictures and videos of girls from objectionable angles.

However this move has created new furor as girls claim that they now can not inform any one using their mobiles in the time of distress. Also few argue that banning of mobiles in schools will not put an end to this menace as the misuse can still occur outside the school. They say counselling the students in right direction is the step needed to protect the modesty of girls.
