Bangalore is not called India’s IT Capital for no reason. The IT department of the state government along with a private firm is giving free WiFi spots in the city. A person will be able to access internet for 3 hours a day and can download 50mb per day. It is said 2000 persons can access it at a time from one location. The firm overseeing this project say this will be full secure as there will be a vigil on what is being accessed and how much is being downloaded.
The facility is currently available in Brigade Road, MG Road, CMH Road and Shantinagar, Yeshwantpur and Koramangala bus stations. There is also a special helpline to receive complaints about the network problems. In the second phase, the government plans to introduce ‘Namma Wi-Fi’ in Tier-II Cities like Mysore, Mangalore, and Gulbarga, enabling free wi-fi in 23 places across the state.
