Bhogapuram Airport gets Green Nod

The construction of an international greenfield airport at Bhogapuram, 45 km from Visakhapatnam has got all the necessary clearances from an expert panel under the Union Environment Ministry. The committee noted that the project authority had ‘satisfactorily’ responded to ‘issues raised in the public hearing’.

The Bhogapuram International Airport, which is proposed to be developed as a PPP project under a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) concession framework, will have a total investment outlay of ₹2,260.73 crore.

Bhogapuram Aerotropolis project comprises of an international airport, maintenance repair and overhaul facility and an aviation academy. The new airport is planned to ease the burden on Vishakapatnam airport which registered a whopping increase in passenger traffic after bifurcation.
