It is widely felt that abortion is the right of a woman who might want to abort under unavoidable circumstances. Many women in the US and citizens in general, felt that the Supreme Court’s ruling took away a woman’s right to her body.
After massive protests, international ridicule, and pressure from Democrats, Joe Biden had to go with popular opinion and give in to public demand. In the past, US vice president Kamala Harris and Health and Human Services secretary Xavier Becerra called the earlier ruling extreme and totally wrong.
With the latest move, Biden said he would provide leave for federal workers for medical care, which will, in turn, set an example for private companies. Already, Amazon, Starbucks, and other corporations have announced that they will expand their health benefits to pay for their employees if they choose to travel to places where they have access to abortion if it is unavailable near where they live.
