BJP and Janasena Under-estimated TDP Voters?

After the High Court’s nod, the polling for the MPTC and ZPTC elections in Andhra Pradesh is underway. Opposition Telugu Desam Party has boycotted these elections but the party’s leaders defied it and contested in some places across the state.

BJP and Janasena pinned high hopes on this election thinking that the anti-Government vote will shift to themselves in the wake of no TDP in the fray. They thought this is the best chance to engulf the TDP voters. But then, something different has happened.

The voter turnout in this election has been disappointing. It is seen nowhere near the voter turnout in Panchayat and Municipal elections. That means a good percentage of TDP voters chose to sit at home than to go out and vote for the other opposition options.

Janasena and BJP should now know there can be no easy ways to get that anti-Government or TDP votes.
