BJP Leaving The Bad & Bringing The Worse For AP

Rumors are rife in the state BJP circles are that the party high command is gearing up for another round of cleansing of the state unit ahead of the 2024 elections.

Somu Veerraju has been appointed as the party president after the 2019 elections but the results of all the by-elections and local elections have been disappointing.

There are reports to the party high command that Veerraju is not acting unilaterally and is the reason for the groups in the party.

Party sources say that Veerraju will not be given one more term and Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao may be appointed as his successor.

GVL is a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament, representing the state of Uttar Pradesh.

He has been active in Andhra Pradesh since 2015. But then, problem is that he is also Pro-YSR Congress like Somu Veerraju.

Meanwhile, party cadres are frustrated with these appointments.

“Somu Veerraju never won as an MLA and was an MLC thanks to the alliance with TDP. GVL is a step ahead and never ever contested a direct election. He will be leading the party to the 2024 election,” they lament.

“If Somu Veerraju is bad, GVL is a worse choice,” they say.
