BJP Sends One More National Leader to the Telugu States

BJP seems to be taking its prospects in both the Telugu States seriously. The party leadership has sent one more leader to oversee the party leadership in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The party’s National Joint Secretary (Organization) Shiv Prakash will oversee the party affairs in AP and Telangana.

He will also oversee the party affairs in four more states (Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal) as well. This is along with the existing party in-charges and co-in-charges. The appointment comes ahead of the crucial by-elections like Tirupati and Nagarjuna Sagar.

Telangana will also have Municipal Elections in Warangal and Khammam. So, the party has taken both the states seriously. BJP is aiming to come to power in Telangana in 2024 and at least become the principal opposition in Andhra Pradesh. The ground situation looks favorable in Telangana but not so in Andhra Pradesh.

In AP, the party is banking on the current Opposition Party, Telugu Desam Party’s defensive position following the 2019 election defeat.
