BJP Taken Back by Naidu’s Googly

BJP is all of sudden taken back by Chandrababu Naidu‘s Googly in Andhra Pradesh in the form of Kapu Reservations. Andhra Pradesh Assembly passed the Bill to give 5% Reservations to Kapu Community and it will be passed to the Center.

Since the new reservations increase the quota more than the prescribed 50%. It needs to be placed in Section 9 of the constitution to make it immune from Judicial Interference. BJP has to do that if it has to stay politically relevant in Andhra Pradesh.

But then, doing that for Andhra Pradesh will automatically ensure similar demands from other states. We have seen Patels in Gujarat and Jats in Haryana demanding Reservations in the same way. So, BJP is cornered in the issue.

The State BJP Leaders who have fanned the Kapu Agitations until now find themselves in a fix with the responsibility of convincing their high command on this issue. They say Naidu nibbed their hopes of emerging as a strong force in the bud.
