Black boxes in Hyderabad Metro

Hyderabad Metro Rail Project is being readied to ensure high-level safety both in stations and on board trains. The Metro stations will boast of security arrangements similar to airports and all the trains will be fitted with black boxes similar to the flight recording systems used in aeroplanes.

Central government is planning to introduce black boxes in Hyderabad and Chennai Metro Rail Projects as Pilot projects. Telangana government is planning to launch the service on June 2nd while the services are already operational in Chennai. The project is already well behind its schedule.

The black boxes on on trains would function as event recorders. They will also monitor technical issues and alert the driver in the event of a technical snag. Metro Rail service between Nagole and Mettuguda is all ready. Only safety certification from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is pending.
