Bogus Voting in Tirupati Shames Democracy

In an election which is supposed to be a damp squib, Telugu Desam Party has put up a stunning effort in Tirupati irrespective of the result. Tirupati has a different demograph which favors the Ruling Party due to the SC population. Furthermore, being in power and a completely demoralized Opposition favor the YSR Congress naturally.

Nara Lokesh and Chandrababu Naidu ran a spirited campaign camping in Tirupati and later that energy has translated into cadre as well on the Polling Day. TDP cadre and leaders caught scores of people who are trying to cast Bogus Votes. There are instances on camera where those voters could not even saying their father name and house number as per the Voter card given to them.

These are the people who are standing in the queue to cast their vote. The party leaders also caught people in several buses being transported from a Function Hall belonging to a Chittoor-based Minister. Later, BJP and Janasena also sprung to action and caught some bogus voters right at the Polling Booths.

All this exercise was Telecast on various TV channels yet neither the Police Department nor the Election Commission took any action. Regardless of the election result, the Opposition mainly TDP was able to expose and shame the Ruling Party. Keeping politics aside, it is a shame for democracy such brazen attempts are being made and the Election Commission remains a mute spectator.
