The Enforcement Directorate has issued an arrest warrant against BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha for her alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor scam case.
The ED officials have been conducting raids at Kavitha’s residence and other properties for the last few hours. Just a few minutes ago, the ED issued an arrest warrant and took her into custody.
Reportedly, the ED officials visited Kavitha’s residence with both search and arrest warrants. They are still at Kavitha’s residence, recording her statement and are yet to give an official update about the arrest.
Kavitha filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking not to take any action in this case. Her lawyer stated that the ED cannot conduct a raid and arrest her when this petition is still pending in the Supreme Court. This petition has been pending in the court for more than 14 months.
The ED officials are expected to give more details about their further action very soon. Meanwhile, Kavitha’s arrest became a hot topic in Telangana politics as it happened just days before the Lok Sabha elections.
