Several days of relentless election campaigning have come to an end in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The polling will be held on May 13 and the results will be out on June 4.
While Telangana is witnessing only Lok Sabha polls, AP will have both assembly and Lok Sabha polling on Monday.
The campaigning in AP has officially ended today at 6 pm. Already, lakhs of voters returned to their hometowns in the state from cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru, to cast their votes.
Meanwhile, there will be certain rules and regulations imposed by the Election Commission of India during this polling period.
There will be Section 144 imposed near the polling booths until the polls are concluded. Legal action would be taken if five or more individuals were found together in a group near the polling booths.
The liquor sale is banned until the conclusion of polling. All bars and wine shops will remain closed from May 11th, 6 pm to May 13th, 6 pm.
There will be high vigilance by the police departments across the state to prevent illegal activities during the polling period.
All kinds of campaigning including rallies, road shows, television advertisements and social media advertisements will be banned during this polling period.
Even messages regarding elections or surveys cannot be sent through mobile phones. People who fail to adhere to these rules would either face a two-year jail term or heavy penalty or both in some cases.
