Can Jagan Ban Veera Simha Reddy?

Some Whatsapp forwards are doing rounds that Jagan Government is serious about Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy. They are apparently unhappy with a few dialogues which are supposedly targeting the Government.

The messages further say some senior officials watched a special show of the movie on Thursday at midnight in Vijayawada and Government is mulling over further steps.

There are some more reports that the Government is planning to go to court insisting on the ban of the film.

All these reports are unverified and at the same time look silly as well. Veera Simha Reddy has dialogues that may hit the Government.

But any action against the movie can not stand legal scrutiny. There is a neatly defined situations in the film to justify the dialogues.

Governments or courts can not take action based on intentions.

YSR Congress made films with even degrading content and malicious intent before 2019. Chandrababu Naidu’s government did not do anything back then. YSRCP can not complain now.
